Ages 9-13 Artwork

Developing A Foundation

Our 9-13 year old students begin drawing in pencil before advancing to pen and ink, and then on to Watercolor.  Many children choose to use their new skills to develop original pieces. Teachers work with students individually to ensure their skills progress with each new project.

Pen and Ink Artwork (first lessons used to learn a sequential method of drawing)

Students dramatically enhance their perception of shape and improve their drawing skills as they work in Pencil. They then broaden their understanding of line and value when they finish pictures in Pen and Ink.

Watercolor Artwork (watercolors are divided into categories based upon children's interests)

After students have demonstrated a basic understanding of drawing, they begin painting in watercolor. Painting is a medium devoted to the understanding of mass and color; and watercolor is a great medium from which to learn these concepts.
